Why it's worth checking out
Lexie’s on the Beach is a relaxed seaside café in Stockton, Newcastle, set beside Stockton Beach and within easy reach of the Stockton Ferry. Its deck is the main draw: a place to enjoy ocean sounds, sea air and changing views while settling in for a casual meal or coffee. The site also looks towards a children’s park, giving families space to unwind while younger visitors play nearby.
The menu covers breakfast and lunch, with familiar café and bistro-style choices made for a broad range of tastes. Breakfast includes Eggs Benedict with house-made hollandaise, scrambled eggs, French toast and sweetcorn fritters. Later in the day, the kitchen serves dishes such as house-made calamari, chicken schnitzel, gourmet burgers, fish and chips and seasonal salads. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available, and the venue caters for children. Desserts and a dedicated drinks selection round out the offering, while the café’s coffee is made with Gusto Salida del Sol beans, roasted for the supplier in Manly Vale.
There is a strong local, family-friendly feel to the venue. Children can use colouring books and the colouring-in wall, while dogs are welcome outside the café with water bowls provided; service dogs are permitted indoors. On-site parking is available at no charge, and the venue says it has a wide access ramp and no stairs, making it suitable for guests who need step-free access. Cyclists can also reach it by bike from the Stockton Ferry Wharf and connect with Stockton’s 5km bike track.
The café grew from Lexie’s plan to improve the former surf club site without losing its easygoing beachside character. Her aim was to provide quality food and coffee while people watched ships enter the Port of Newcastle and listened to the waves. Although Lexie became terminally ill shortly after the venue was completed, the business continues to carry that vision through its casual atmosphere and friendly service. It suits family get-togethers, birthdays and larger groups, but the deck and coffee offering also make it a comfortable stop for solo visitors or anyone exploring Stockton at a slower pace.
