Studio Amsterdam

Studio Amsterdam is the studio and art gallery of artist Patricia Van Lubeck, located in a former department store in Maitland, Newcastle. The space brings together her recent paintings, earlier landscapes, portraits, drawings and other works, offering a view across different stages of her practice rather than a single exhibition theme.

Van Lubeck’s recent oil paintings explore individualism through tree-like figures presented as performers. Each tree can be read as a different character — brave, cheeky, lucky, leading or guiding — while the wider series translates human qualities into landscapes.
