The Forum Harbourside

The Forum Harbourside is now part of NUsport, the University of Newcastle’s fitness, health, wellbeing and sport organisation. The transition reflects a broader focus on supporting university students, staff and the wider Newcastle community through sport, recreation and exercise.

The Harbourside facility offers access to group fitness, body composition scans and flexible membership options, with no joining fees or hidden fees promoted on the site. Members can also access two facilities, including the NUsport Harbourside and University locations, as well as an aquatics centre. The wider NUsport program includes social sport, university sport, children’s activities and structured Teen Fit sessions.

This makes the venue suited to a range of users, from students and university staff to community members looking for regular gym access, group exercise or organised sport. Families may find the kids’ and teen programs relevant, while social sport provides a team-based option beyond individual training. The organisation describes its work as being powered by university research, knowledge and professional expertise, and notes that its fitness business is the only Fitness Australia Quality Accredited Business in the region.

The Harbourside site is listed as open from 5.30am to 9pm on weekdays and 7am to 4pm on weekends. NUsport’s stated aim is to inspire healthier communities through sport, health and fitness services.
