The Wood Restaurant

The Wood Restaurant is Brokenwood Wines’ dining destination in Pokolbin, Newcastle, offering a seasonal lunch designed to work alongside the winery’s wines. Executive Chef Sam Alexander leads a menu built around local produce, with the restaurant highlighting the connection between what is served on the plate and what is poured in the glass.

Guests can order from the à la carte menu or choose the ‘Feed Me’ option, allowing the kitchen to guide the meal. The menu changes with the seasons and ingredient availability, so the experience is intended to reflect what is at its best at the time of visiting. Brokenwood’s website also notes a pan-seared lamb rump as the signature dish that earned recognition for apprentice chef Seanna Winters at the Regional Nestlé Golden Chefs Hat Awards; it may not be part of the current menu.

The restaurant is open for lunch from Friday to Tuesday, while the adjoining Terrace Wine Bar operates seven days a week. The terrace serves Brokenwood wines by the glass or bottle, along with a selection of small plates from The Wood Restaurant menu. Outdoor seating depends on the weather, with service moving inside if necessary.
