Sydney Brewery Hunter Valley is a brewery and dining venue in Pokolbin, Newcastle, set on the grounds of Rydges Resort Hunter Valley. Its Lovedale Brewbar serves beer directly from the brewery through four dedicated vessels, with a core range supported by rotating seasonal beers and ciders. The brewing water is filtered Hunter Valley water, which the brewery describes as a clean base for making a broad selection of styles, from lagers and pale ales to richer porters.

The venue’s signature beer is Lovedale Lager, a Munich-style lager made with three types of German hops. It is described as smooth, with a citrus aroma and lightly toasted malt character, and is designed to work with lighter dishes from the restaurant. Beer remains central to the experience, with tasting paddles and a drinks list that also includes cocktails, wine, spirits and cider. The venue also produces Two Doctors Whiskey in the Hunter Valley, with the first release matured in a Rosebrook ex-port cask for six years.

The menu includes share plates, salads, burgers, pizzas, grilled dishes and children’s meals, with choices such as the Sydney Brewery Lager fish and chips, smoked brisket burger, plant-based Beyond Burger, and roast pumpkin and feta pizza. For a more substantial meal, the dinner menu lists options from a chicken schnitzel through to Australian Atlantic salmon, Wagyu rump and scotch fillet. The kitchen also caters for some dietary preferences with vegan choices, gluten-free pizza bases and dairy-free cheese available for an additional charge.

The space is set up for different kinds of visits, with an outdoor beer garden and indoor seating, alongside live music, tasting paddles and shareable food. Families have a dedicated kids’ menu, while the venue’s own description also makes room for both larger gatherings and more intimate occasions. Brewery tours run on Saturdays at 2pm, subject to availability, and include a 15-minute look behind the scenes followed by paddles of four beers or ciders in the Lovedale Bar.
